ABOUT RONDY PINS AND BUTTONS. A tradition since the early days of Rondy, the Fur Rondy collector pins are an integral part of Rondy. Representing the spirit of the festival and celebration of the ten days of Rondy, these pins are worn across the globe. Artist compete to design the official pin and local students do the same in a booster button contest. These pins become collector’s items.

I am an architect by profession with a passion for art. I was born and raised in Anchorage and have lived in Eagle River, Alaska for the past 38 years. I have been a supporter of Fur Rondy and avid collector of Fur Rondy pins since my youth. Growing up in Anchorage in the 1960’s and 70’s Fur Rondy was always a big event in our family and was fun even in the bitter cold. As an artist, I’m following in the footsteps of my mother, Vicky Rearick, who exhibited her artwork during Fur Rondy for many years. My father, James Rearick, was the winner of the 1970 Talkeetna to Anchorage snowmachine race that was held during Fur Rondy. I’ve always enjoyed drawing and artistic challenges, but within the last few years have taken up painting.
My pin design, Raven Spirit, was inspired by the enthusiasm by which the “White Raven” was received by Anchorage last winter. I noticed that the uniqueness of the White Raven was being celebrated by our community and was creating friendships and unity within a wide spectrum of people, near and far. The design represents the cultural diversity, commonality, and individual expression that is reflected in Anchorage and throughout Alaska.
The pin is a symbol of the spirit of unity that was shown for the White Raven. My hope is that that spirit endures, and that people come together to celebrate their differences and common interest, which to me is what Fur Rondy is all about.
I’m proud to be an Alaskan and consider the selection of my design for the 2025 Collector pin a great honor.

SIERRA LAPIERRE

Hello, my name is Sierra Lapierre, and I am an identical twin! I am a 4th grader at College Gate Elementary. What inspired me to create a booster pin was my friends and my art teacher. I have been going to Fur Rondy for a few years now. My favorite things at Fur Rondy are blanket toss, the huskies and the fun rides! I love art and to me it’s calming and relaxing.
When I’m not at school I’m either at ballet, choir, swimming, or at the trampoline park with my friends and family. Thank you so much for choosing my design! I worked really hard on it and still can’t believe I won!!
