We are sad to announce that Day 3 of the World Champion Sled Dogs Races are CANCELLED. Please see statement from the Alaska Sled Dog & Racing Association (ASDRA) and Greater Anchorage Incorporated (GAI):
“Alaskan Sled Dog and Racing Association and Greater Anchorage, Incorporated announce the difficult decision to cancel the 3rd heat of the 2022 Open World Championship Sled Dog Race. Our freeze/thaw weather pattern has impacted trail conditions which have continued to deteriorate despite best efforts of MOA street crew, Parks and Recreation, the Nordic Ski groomer, and ASDRA trail crew. The Fur Rendezvous Open World Championship is the pinnacle of races which attracts the most elite teams in the world. The well-being of those remarkable sled dogs is the highest priority for ASDRA and GAI. We have enjoyed two exciting days of racing and applaud the Rondy mushers for the expert care they take of their dogs. Fur Rondy is always “Dogs First”!”
Please join us at the Alaska Sled Dog & Racing Association’s Award Ceremony at 1:00 PM @ 4th and D Street. You can also tune into the broadcasting live with a special interview by the mushers exclusively at CBS 590 Radio or online with Kale Casey Facebook live!
